About
Gatbawi is a 9th-century stone Buddha near the summit of Palgongsan, wearing a flat slab on its head that looks like a traditional Korean hat — hence the name. It has drawn people praying for a single wish to be granted for over a thousand years, and this festival, now in its 25th year, is built around that. The two days include a yadanbeopseok gathering mixing rock bands, Buddhist chant, Wonhyo's muae dance and sound meditation; an opening bibimbap offering shared among the crowd; a healing concert with gugak singer Nam Sang-il; and an orchestral wish concert with baritone Kim Dong-gyu and soprano Kang Hye-jung. A temple run along the Gatbawi wish trail and a templestay at Seonbonsa run on advance registration, and there are temple-food demonstrations and wish-paper hanging at the main site
Free.
