Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla kingdom for nearly a thousand years, and this event opens its monuments after dark. The 2026 edition is subtitled 'Fragments — What We Have Kept, and What We Will Keep', and spreads across Woljeonggyo Bridge, Gyerim Forest, Gyochon Hanok Village and Gyeongju Eupseong Fortress. Expect illuminated architecture, performances and hands-on programmes at each site. Most of it is free; a few individual programmes charge

For a visitor this is the easiest way to see Gyeongju's heritage sites lit at night, when they are markedly less crowded than by day.
