About
Paju, on the border north of Seoul, grows ginseng in the tradition of Gaeseong, the old Goryeo capital just across the DMZ that was once Korea's ginseng capital. The festival is held at Imjingak, the park on the edge of the Civilian Control Line, under the theme 'DMZ Gaeseong ginseng, strength like magic'. The main reason to come is the farmers' direct-sale market, where you can buy fresh ginseng straight from growers. There are also a national ginseng cooking contest with about twenty teams, busking and stage performances, exhibitions, a ginseng auction, and free and paid activities for all ages
It combines well with a DMZ day. Free entry.
