About
Gupo was the great river port of the lower Nakdong, and Busan's Buk-gu district celebrates it each October at Hwamyeong Ecological Park, a stretch of lotus ponds and riverbank on the city's north-west edge. The 13th edition runs from 16 to 18 October under the slogan 'connect, play, meet at Gupo Naru'. A reconstructed ferry landing recalls the old port; Gupo's famous noodles are served as platters and made in noodle-pulling workshops; there are ecology and wellness programmes, a riverside book fair, a singing contest and open busking by residents. After dark the park lights up with a night walk, a garden of lights and a night market
