About
Semiwon is a water garden at the point where the north and south branches of the Han River meet, with Paldang Lake on three sides — Gyeonggi-do's first designated provincial garden, laid out in the Korean traditional style. This autumn festival is built around its water lilies: the enormous Victoria amazonica whose leaves carry a child's weight, Australian species, and tropical varieties in every colour. The grounds also hold a lotus museum, a fountain built from onggi jars, and a replica of the pontoon bridge the Joseon scholar Jeong Yak-yong designed for King Jeongjo's procession. In 2026 it also hosts the Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo
About an hour east of Seoul.
