A three-day market festival from 2 to 4 October in Gaeun, a former coal-mining town in Mungyeong, built around the friendly atmosphere of the Ajagae traditional market. The opening night brings a gala show from the trot singing contest Miss Trot 4, Saturday is a 'time capsule' concert of singers from the 80s and 90s, and Sunday is a children's big show for families. A receipt event lets you sample dishes by well-known chefs using Mungyeong's medicinal-stone pork. A photo exhibition on Gaeun's mining history shows the miners and pit villages that powered Korea's industrialisation.
