In March 1900 the first piano in Korea arrived by river at Samunjin ferry landing in Dalseong, near Daegu, brought by the American missionary Richard Sidebotham; locals reportedly called it the 'ghost box'. That single instrument is the origin of this open-air concert, in which 100 pianos are played together on a stage by the Nakdong River. Started in 2012, the event ranges from classical to jazz and pop, and there is nothing else quite like it in the country. Performances are in the evening at the permanent outdoor stage at Samunjin.
