About
Buan's main seafood festival, now in its 18th year, celebrates the salted seafood (jeotgal) of Gomso Bay and the autumn king prawn season. Gomso jeotgal is a traditional food made with sea salt from the bay's own salt flats, and dozens of varieties can be tasted and bought in one place. Stalls sell and serve prawns and other local catch, with tasting sessions and visitor programmes. It is a food-first festival on the west coast of North Jeolla, best combined with the nearby Byeonsanbando coast.
