The Busan International Rock Festival has run since 2000 and is the closest thing Korea has to a classic outdoor rock weekend — multiple stages on the flood plain beside the Nakdong River, a mix of Korean bands and international bookings, and a crowd that skews older and more committed than the K-pop festival circuit. It ran free for most of its history and now charges, which has thinned the crowd and improved the experience. Gates open at 11:00 each day and the music runs into the night.

For visitors: All ages. Samnak Ecological Park is in Sasang, west of central Busan — Subway Line 2 to Sasang, then a bus or a 20-minute walk. It is a river flood plain: bring something to sit on, and shoes you do not mind getting muddy. Pairs well with a Busan trip that uses the old town rather than the beaches.

Tickets in Korea sell through Korean platforms (Interpark Global, Melon Ticket, Yes24) and popular shows sell out fast. Buy only from the seller named in the official announcement — resold tickets are routinely voided by identity checks at the door.
